Best Pet Care Apps in 2026: PetKira, 11pets, PetDesk and Pawprint Compared
Pet care apps cover a lot of ground: vet records, medication reminders, appointment booking, feeding, weight tracking and more. No single app is best for everyone, because what you need depends on whether you mostly want a health record, a link to your vet clinic, or help with daily feeding. This guide compares four apps, PetKira, 11pets, PetDesk and Pawprint, based on what each is publicly known for.
A note before we start: this article is published by the PetKira team, so we have an obvious interest. We have tried to be fair, to describe only well-known features, and to avoid rankings or made-up scores. Apps change often, so check each store listing and website for current features, supported countries and pricing before you decide.
What to look for in a pet care app
- Health records: vaccinations, medications, vet visits and documents in one place
- Reminders: for medication, vaccines, appointments and feeding
- Feeding and nutrition: meal plans, portion guidance, meal logging
- Vet connection: whether the app links to your clinic or works on its own
- Sharing: whether partners, family or a pet sitter can see and update the same information
- Platforms and availability: iPhone, Android, and which countries it works in
- Cost and privacy: what is free, what is paid, and what happens to your data
PetKira
PetKira is built around daily feeding and nutrition for dogs and cats. It generates AI meal plans from your pet's weight, age and eating history, sends feeding reminders, vet alerts and weight check-ins, and lets you log meals and activity. It also includes Kira, a voice assistant for pet care questions, household sharing so the whole family works from the same plan, and a way to find vets, groomers and pet stores nearby. It is available on Android through Google Play with a 14-day free trial and no credit card; an iPhone version is coming soon. It is the newest app in this list, and it focuses on feeding rather than on being a clinic's booking system.
11pets
11pets is a long-running pet health and care app. It is best known as a place to keep records for one or more pets, including vaccinations, medications and vet visits, with reminders for things that recur. It is a reasonable fit if your main goal is to keep your pet's health history organised and be reminded of what is due. Check the app listing for its current sharing options and platform availability.
PetDesk
PetDesk is different from the others in one important way: it is designed to work with veterinary clinics. Clinics that use PetDesk can offer their clients appointment requests, reminders and communication through the app. That makes it a strong choice if your vet already uses it, and much less useful if they do not, because the connection runs through the clinic. Ask your vet clinic whether they use it before you download.
Pawprint
Pawprint is a pet health record app for keeping vaccinations, vet information and other health details in one place, so you have them on hand at a vet visit, a boarding stay or a groomer. If a tidy, portable health record is your priority, it is worth a look. Check its listing for current features and the regions it supports.
Side by side
| App | Best known for | Strongest fit if you want |
|---|---|---|
| PetKira | AI meal plans, feeding reminders, meal logging, household sharing | Help with daily feeding and nutrition for a dog or cat |
| 11pets | Pet health records and reminders | A record of vaccinations, medications and vet visits |
| PetDesk | Connection to participating vet clinics | Appointments and clinic communication through your own vet |
| Pawprint | Pet health record | A portable record to share with vets, sitters and groomers |
These are not mutually exclusive
Many owners use more than one. For example, you might use a clinic-linked app for appointments and a feeding-focused app for daily meals. The things to avoid are entering the same data in three places and relying on an app for a medical decision. Apps help you stay organised, but your vet decides on diagnosis and treatment.
How to choose
- Start with your biggest daily pain point: forgetting meds, overfeeding, or losing paperwork
- Ask your vet clinic which apps they support
- Try the free tier or trial before you commit, and read the privacy policy
- If more than one person looks after the pet, check how sharing works
- If you only need a number for portions, the free feeding calculator estimates daily calories for dogs and cats without an app
If daily feeding is where you struggle, you can download PetKira for Android and try it free with no credit card. iPhone is coming soon, and you can ask to be notified from our home page.
