Best Pet Wellness App for Nutrition and Activity Tracking

October 15, 2026·7 min read

The best pet wellness app for nutrition and activity tracking is the one that matches how you actually care for your pet. If you want meal planning, meal logging and activity logging in a single app for a dog or cat, PetKira is built for exactly that. If you mainly want a weight log or a health history, a simpler tracker may be enough. If you want to track activity with a collar-style device, you will need an app that comes with hardware. This guide compares Pessy, Petivity, Healthy Pet Tracker, 11pets and PetDesk fairly, based on what each says on its own site or store listing.

A note before we start: this article is published by the PetKira team, so we have an obvious interest. We describe other apps only from their own official pages, we say plainly when a page does not mention something, and we avoid rankings or scores. Apps change often, so check each listing for current features and availability.

What to look for in a pet wellness app

These are the features that matter most for nutrition and activity.

  • Nutrition and meal plans: a daily calorie target and meals that fit it, not just a bag-label chart
  • Meal and activity logging: a record of what was eaten, what was skipped, and how much exercise your pet had
  • Reminders: feeding times, vet visits, weight check-ins and medication
  • A vet finder: a quick way to locate vets, groomers and pet stores nearby
  • Household sharing: everyone who looks after the pet sees the same plan and log
  • An AI assistant: a way to ask questions and turn answers into a plan, with honest limits
  • Platform and privacy: iPhone or Android, whether an account is needed, and where your data is kept

Pessy

Pessy's site (in Spanish) describes a 'digital identity for pets' that learns from each pet. It says you can keep several pets in one app, get reminders for vaccines, checkups and routine, and let veterinarians, groomers, walkers and trainers see a pet's history with the family's permission. It also states that Pessy does not diagnose or replace veterinary professionals. The pages we checked do not describe meal plans, meal logging or activity tracking, and at the time of writing the Google Play button on the site was not yet linked to a store page.

Petivity

Petivity is a pet health brand powered by Purina that sells smart devices and at-home health tests. Its site lists a smart feeder for cats that portions meals and lets you schedule and track them from your phone, a litter box monitor for cats, and a GPS and activity tracker for dogs that uses the Petivity Dog Tracker app. The dog tracker is cellular-connected, fits dogs over 10 pounds, and needs a device purchase plus a monthly plan. If you want hardware-based activity tracking for a dog, this is the clearest option in this list. The trade-off is that you buy and charge a device.

Healthy Pet Tracker

Healthy Pet Tracker is an iPhone and iPad app from an independent developer. Its App Store listing describes a separate profile for each pet, weight logging with a target weight and a progress indicator, notes for vet visits, medication events, grooming and milestones, and uploads of PDFs and images. The listing says weight logs, notes, photos and documents stay on your device, that no account is needed, and that you can export your data as a CSV file at any time. Some extras, such as custom reminders, are part of an optional paid upgrade. It is a strong, privacy-minded choice for weight and records on iOS. The listing does not describe meal plans or activity tracking.

11pets

11pets describes itself as a pet-care platform and is listed on Google Play and the App Store. Its site mentions granular data sharing, where you choose the pet, the data, the recipient and the duration, and invitations for professionals such as vets and for family members. Medical records, vet visits and unlimited pet seats are listed among paid-plan extras, and data is stored in the cloud. It is a reasonable fit for records and sharing; the pages we checked do not describe AI meal plans.

PetDesk

PetDesk is veterinary engagement software for clinics. Pet owners use it through their own clinic's app, where the site says they can book appointments, complete digital forms, request prescription refills, text the clinic and receive reminders. That makes it very useful if your vet already uses it, and much less useful if they do not. It is a link to your clinic, not a nutrition or activity tracker.

How PetKira covers each item

These are the features PetKira describes on its own site, mapped to the list above.

  • Nutrition and meal plans: AI-generated meal plans for dogs and cats, built from your pet's details and what they actually eat. Our post on how AI pet meal planning works explains the method and its limits, and the free feeding calculator shows the calorie maths.
  • Meal and activity logging: you can log meals, including skipped ones, and log walks and exercise.
  • Reminders: feeding reminders, vet alerts and weight check-ins.
  • Vet finder: find vets, groomers and pet stores nearby.
  • Household sharing: the whole family works from the same plan. See how to share pet care with your household.
  • AI assistant: Kira, a voice assistant for pet care questions. Kira is a planning and tracking helper, not a vet.

PetKira supports dogs and cats and does not replace your veterinarian.

How to choose

  • Daily feeding is the problem: pick an app with meal plans and meal logging
  • Weight and records on iPhone, with data kept on the device: Healthy Pet Tracker fits
  • Activity from a collar-style device: look at hardware options such as Petivity
  • Your vet already uses a clinic app: use it for appointments, and keep a feeding app alongside it

Many owners use two apps. For a longer overview, see our comparison of pet care apps in 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best pet wellness app for nutrition and activity tracking?

It depends on what you need. For meal plans, meal logging and activity logging in one app for dogs and cats, PetKira is built for that. For a weight log and records on iPhone, Healthy Pet Tracker is a simple option. For hardware-based activity tracking on a dog, Petivity sells a GPS and activity tracker.

What is a good pet nutrition tracker app?

Look for a daily calorie target, meal logging that records what was eaten and skipped, and plans that adapt to your pet's real eating. PetKira generates AI meal plans and lets you log meals, and the free feeding calculator shows how a calorie target is worked out.

Is there a dog activity tracker app that does not need a collar?

Yes. PetKira lets you log walks and exercise by hand, with no extra hardware. If you want automatic GPS and activity data, you need a device, such as the dog tracker Petivity sells.

Does a pet wellness app replace the vet?

No. Apps help you stay organised and consistent, but they cannot examine your pet or diagnose a problem. If your pet is unwell, has a medical condition, or you are unsure about their diet, contact your veterinarian.

Can the whole family use the same pet app?

Some apps support it. PetKira has household sharing so everyone feeding the pet works from the same plan and log. Check how sharing works in any app before you commit, especially if a pet sitter will use it.

Is PetKira available on iPhone?

iPhone is coming soon. PetKira is available now on Android through Google Play with a free trial and no credit card. If you use an iPhone, you can ask to be notified on the founding members page.

Not veterinary advice. This article is general information for healthy pets and is not a substitute for advice from your veterinarian. If your pet is unwell, has a medical condition, or you are unsure about a food or a change to their diet, contact your vet.
